Mike Peterson | CEO

Michael Peterson, based in Santa Barbara, CA. is the CEO and President of TechNexxus, where he is focused on information, compliance, and risk management consulting. He is an accomplished engineer and IT architect with 37 years of experience in datacenter infrastructure operations, storage and information management services. His career has been distinguished with many accomplishments including forming 6 trade associations, multiple technology and services startups, and producing many articles, books and reports on operations and services. He currently serves the SNIA as Chief Strategy Advocate, a position from which he leads development of best practices, standards, and market education in service areas such as eDiscovery, long-term retention and preservation, data protection, information-lifecycle-management, database information management, compliance, metadata, audit logs, etc. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Godigital Media Group, an entertainment industry digital monetization firm.

Mike's background includes designing storage and ediscovery products, processes and research projects over the past 20 years that couple market engineering to customer requirements. His extensive background in information lifecycle management (ILM), information archiving and electronic discovery reference models proivde a unique and comprehensive perspective when applied to document and information management and retention processes and technologies.

David Baumann | SVP and General Counsel

David Baumann specializes in very large and creative multi-national business process, information technology and telecommunications transactions, including outsourcing, offshore sourcing, functional and business process re-engineering and the procurement of sophisticated hardware, software, networks, systems and services for a wide range of clients and technology vendors (when vendors purchase technology products, systems, networks and services). Additionally, David has worked with TechNexxus to develop a state-of-the-art system for identifying client business requirements, modeling financial requirements, developing requests for proposals (RFPs), evaluating vendor responses, developing appropriate documentation and closing transactions that deliver superior value. He has also developed an array of systems with TechNexxus to support the efficient and effective management of contracts and vendor relationships.

David previously served as Vice President and General Counsel of Technology Partners, Inc., one of the leading information technology outsourcing consulting firms. During his tenure with TPI, David was also the founder of the TPI outsourcing vendor online directory and Vice President of the TPI Directory Services Corporation. David assisted TPI's work on numerous technology outsourcing transactions, providing consulting and legal services to TPI clients and a broad range of general counsel services and functions to the TPI companies.

Previously, Mr. Baumann was also a partner / member of DLA Piper, Winston & Strawn, LB3 and Mintz, Levin, resident in the firms' Washington offices, where he led the technology transactions and intellectual property groups. Before private legal practice and business and technology consulting, David was Senior Attorney/Division Counsel for the Southeast Division of the MCI Communications Corporation, responsible for MCI's regulatory authority and research and development joint venture agreements in the Southeast region.

Throughout his career, Mr. Baumann has gained substantial experience designing, developing and managing successful technology solutions, and profitable companies built on standardized repeatable processes and innovative technologies (including eCommerce and eBusiness applications, knowledge management, geographic information systems, call centers, application service providers, multimedia and business modeling). His experience includes several successful database-driven internet-based applications and application service providers. He also founded LexiComm Multimedia Works, LLC one of the first internet development companies in the mid-Atlantic region, whose operations have been merged into the Infinite Multimedia Network.

Mr. Baumann is a widely known and respected speaker on outsourcing strategies and processes.

Developed key customer and partner relationships with: Baseline Controls Corporation (Westinghouse-Nuclear), Brinks Security, Church of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), CW International, Department of Justice (DOJ), eNTEGRITI, Federal Government CSC, Lockheed Martin, Sony, State of Utah, TecSec, University of Hawaii, US Navy, VCSY (and Verizon), and confidential customer programs with Lockheed Martin IT.
  • Transformed and modernized IBM’s Disaster Recovery Division into an e-business. This reengineered division, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, was a product of the merging of IT Security, Business Resilience, COOP, and IBM’s World-wide Crisis Team. This division and entire leadership team received IBM’s highest award for their outstanding 9-11 customer service and recoveries for NY City and Pentagon Clients (over 2,200 client recoveries).
  • Lead DoD strategist for creating IBM’s Network Centric Operations (NCO) and Defense solutions & On-Demand Outsourcing services strategies. Personally led the development of IBM’s NCO IT Security “go-to-market” plan, and top level Defense in Depth” (DiD) integrated security and NCO architecture and strategy. Guided the development of IBM’s NCO Defense in Depth (DiD) Cyber Security Architecture working prototype and designed IBM’s NCO/CyberSecurity Center of Excellence.
  • Directly contributed to the creation of the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC) and helped IBM gain a leadership role of the technology standards group. Specifically helped to make cyber-security a critical integrated component of the NCOIC’s charter.
